Award Amnesty International Chair 2023 to Elizabeth Wathuti
Every year, Ghent University awards the Amnesty International Chair to an outstanding person who has made a significant contribution to human rights worldwide. Elizabeth Wathuti is the 2023 laureate of the Amnesty International Chair. She is being honored by Ghent University for her prominent role as an environmental and climate activist. Wathuti will give a public lecture at the occasion of the award ceremony on 21 March in Arts Centre VIERNULVIER.

Today, more than ever, we face existential environmental challenges. But that's no reason for climate defeatism, according to Elizabeth Wathuti. She will explore how we can meet these challenges in her public lecture "Caring for the Earth, Caring for Ourselves: Planetary Health for a Sustainable Future". The event will be in English.
