Trough the ethnographic lens of the so-called anti-gang, an ambiguous youth policing group, in Goma (Democratic Republic of Congo) this doctoral thesis examines the politics of 'everyday policing'; and more precisely the distinct style of politics and authority that is produced by anti-gang practices of policing. Besides more conventional ethnographic techniques, this PhD also draws on a participative filmmaking methodology that was developed during the course of the research.
